I have been told that Kidney Stones in men are equivalent to childbirth. Now I am not a man, but I have had kidney stones and I have given birth 4 times with no drugs, and I am here to tell you that they are not at all equivalent. Not even a little bit. There is no comparison. Kidney stones are WAY, WAY, WAY worse.
Oh my God. Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow.....
I have been having a back ache for several days now and, didn't really think much of it. Then yesterday I started having problems with feeling the need to pee and not having much luck, basically I couldn't pee. Now I don't know if you have ever had this problem, but it is the worst feeling. The absolute worst. Then I started having pain in my stomach.
So Tony took me to the ER, I didn't want to go but it was so awful I finally agreed.
The verdict? Yep, kidney stones.
You see I have had kidney stones before. When I was 34 weeks pg with my third I went to the dr for terrible back pain, we will call him Dr BH for butthead, he said he didn't know what was wrong with me, but that I was probably in labor. I told him I was not in labor and he gave me a very condescending look and told me that he would check my cervix and we would see.
We would see??? This was my third pregnancy, I knew what labor felt like and this was nothing like labor. It was sooooooo much worse, I wanted to die, I asked Tony to punch me so I would be unconscious and not be able to feel anything. He wouldn't do it.
What kind of dh refuses to punch his wife out when she is in terrible pain? Jerk!
So anyway Dr BH tells me "well you are not dilated at all so it must not be labor." Really?? Ya think?
I think he must have been pissed at me for telling him what was what so then he says, "But it may be placental abruption" he then sends me to an OB 45 minutes away for an ultrasound.
Now if he had really thought that I was having a placental abruption he really shouldn't have sent me 45 minutes away to have an ultrasound to check. A placental abruption is a huge emergency and should be checked out right away.
So he sends Tony and me off, we were terrified, freaking out.
The OB told us that there was no way it could be an abruption, with an abruption there is always bleeding and I had blood in my urine so it had to be kidney stones.
Let me just tell you, I would rather give birth to a 15 lb baby vaginally with no drugs than ever have another kidney stone.
For the record Tony again refused to punch me out last night. I really don't think that it was too much to ask.
I generally refuse to take any and all drugs because I am breastfeeding and I don't think that my baby needs to have any drugs.
I took the drugs, Tylenol 3 with some other thing I can't remember, now I figure that if my baby has any bad effects from the drugs it is Tony's fault. I mean come on, one punch......

I don't think that was asking too much of him. Geez, Tony. And I though he loved you!
